Aken is from the Batwa community in Kanungu District of southwestern Uganda. She and her brother were identified for the program after the death of their father.
In December 2021, Aken graduated from vocational school with a degree in fashion and design. She is excited to return home as a new graduate with hopes of being an agent of change in her community. She has already worked with a tailor in a town that neighbors her home. PCAU will support her in setting up her own tailoring business now that she has graduated.
